What is a lodge and what does it mean in the hotel's name?
In the Seychelles hotel collection you can find the word "lodge", for example: Bird Island Lodge, Indian Ocean Lodge, Diver's Lodge, Le Relax Luxury Lodge, Paradise Flycatcher's Lodge, La Belle Tortue Lodge. Sometimes it seems to travelers at first glance that the "lodge" prefix means a modest accommodation option. But this is not so.
Lodges were invented for travelers in Africa in places where safaris are usually held. Strictly speaking, this is an ethno hotel, as if built into nature and intended for tourists.
The conditions in such hotels are comfortable: this is a capital structure, which includes all the services, a restaurant, a bar, verandas, and access to a small garden. Usually these hotels are 4-5 stars, rooms are separate bungalows. There are not many people in lodges. Therefore, they like to choose tourists who appreciate privacy, immersion in the landscape and without compromising comfort.
The purpose of the lodge is that a person can enjoy the surrounding nature and landscapes as much as possible.
The homeland of lodges is Botswana, where these hotels appeared about 30 years ago. Then, other African countries followed the example of the pioneer. The Seychelles is no exception.
